*** Covid Vaccination Update to Groups 8, 7, 6 and 5 ***

As of  Saturday 6th March 2021, patients aged 55 – 59 (in priority group 8) will receive a letter from NHS England inviting them to book an appointment at one of the local nationally run vaccine clinics. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/

We continue to work through people aged 16 – 65 in an at risk group (priority group 6) and those aged 65 years and above who have not yet had their vaccine. We are getting a high number of Covid vaccine queries and our telephones are exceptionally busy so please bear with us and wait for us to contact you when it’s your turn.

WHAT THIS MEANS

If you are aged 55 – 59 (priority group 8)

You will receive a letter from NHS England inviting you to book an appointment at one of the local nationally run clinics. If you are able to we would strongly encourage you to take up an appointment at one of the national clinics even if you have to travel a little further than you may like. However, if you are housebound or you are unable to get to the location of the local nationally run clinics, please don’t worry, we will be in touch when we have a vaccine available for you, but this could be a number of weeks. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/

If you are aged 60 – 65 (priority group 7)

You should have received a letter from NHS England last week inviting you to book an appointment at one of the local nationally run clinics.

If you are aged 16 – 65 in an at risk group (priority group 6)

We are continuing to invite people from this group for a vaccine when we have one available. People in this group have an underlying medical condition that puts them at greater risk. There are over 50 thousand people eligible in this group in Wigan Borough so it will take us a number of weeks to get through everyone. Please don’t worry if you don’t get the call right away. If you think you may be eligible in priority group 6 you can check the list of conditions on our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): https://healthierwigan.nhs.uk/covid-19-vaccination-faqs/
